Andréa DeFelice: Your Bubble, My Bubble
Solo Exhibition at DigiAna Studio
DigiAna Studio is honored to present a solo exhibition by interdisciplinary artist Andréa DeFelice (@a.defelice), whose practice navigates the layered relationship between human perception, technology, and the fractured realities of modern communication.
With a background in new media, engineering, and sculpture, DeFelice creates work that engages deeply with the psychological and cultural responses to technological evolution. Her pieces often examine how digital systems reshape the way we absorb, process, and misinterpret information—particularly as we oscillate between physical presence and virtual projection in our daily lives.
A centerpiece of this exhibition, Your Bubble, My Bubble (Not Me, But Somebody Else), confronts the tensions of shared space and emotional distance. The work poetically addresses the formation of both real and artificial environments—emotional, psychological, and digital. It suggests a kind of internal dialogue: speaking to oneself, to nature, to animals, and sometimes failing to speak meaningfully to others. These quiet ruptures and surreal connections resonate closely with DigiAna Studio’s mission, which explores the convergence of human-felt experience and virtually constructed environments through augmented and mixed media.
DeFelice’s broader body of work spans motion-based objects, sound, sculpture, print, and image. Her practice often blends analog and digital elements to create illusionistic installations that interrogate the act of observation itself—inviting viewers to reconsider what is seen, assumed, and felt. Her conceptual framework aims to reverse the gaze and unravel the mechanics of meaning-making in a tech-mediated society.
Based between New York City and various artist residencies, DeFelice works from her Lower East Side studio. She is currently a Professor of Media Studies and Art & Technology at both Pratt Institute and Queens College. In addition to her art practice, she is an advocate for birds and NYC wildlife, living with a parrot and supporting animal life as a vital presence in her creative world. Her works—including prints, paintings, and sculptural installations—are held in private collections across the U.S. and internationally.
